Act 38 of 2023: Automated Speed Enforcement Expansion Report

 

Act 38 of 2023 (2023, P.L. 344, No. 38) tasked the Local Government Commission with conducting “a study of expanding automated speed enforcement on highways and streets owned by municipalities” and submitting a report to the General Assembly no later than December 14, 2025, of the “findings and recommendations” of the research. To that end, the Commission has scheduled two public hearings to gather information from relevant practitioners and stakeholders.

The Local Government Commission will hold a public hearing regarding the existing automated speed enforcement programs in Pennsylvania, with a follow-up hearing to be held to gather stakeholder and other interested party feedback on expansion of such programs.

The Local Government Commission held a public hearing on the current status of automated enforcement programs in the Commonwealth, and is holding a second public hearing to collect additional testimony from interested stakeholders and local government officials regarding the expansion of automated speed enforcement programs throughout the Commonwealth.
